CALL ME M.A.

I was born yellow. Not metaphorically speaking. Alas, I was not some sort of preemptive representation of that Coldplay single that defined much of my youth. I was really yellow. Jaundiced. Diseased. It really begins to bring the world into perspective knowing I narrowly escaped infanticide. Albeit, that sort of thing hasn’t been common for centuries, but still, the threat of death loomed. This is serious stuff, people.

However, thanks to my resilient nature and a string of neon lights that reversed the discoloration of my pigmentation, I soon went from yellow to a soft, fleshy pink. Fast forward to 2024, and outside of summer months basking in dangerous UV rays, I mostly stay that way.

Now, when I’m not pondering important questions about life and death, I like to keep it relatively upbeat. I write songs on guitar, songs in my head, and songs for my 5-year-old corgi, Mildred, who also likes to present as a tanned loaf of bread. I’ve been copywriting for brands for a decade, but my love of storytelling came long before that. And whether I’m presenting in a board room or on a stage under lights, I bring passion, resilience and thoughtfulness to my performance -- much as I did as a yellow babe.
